Hello friends,
So in today's blog post I wanted to talk to you all about making new friends in a new city. It can be daunting to think you're not going to make any. But that's not true, there are so many ways to meet new people when moving countries.
Firstly, use your connections, I can not say this more! Maybe you don't know anyone in the city you're moving to, but that doesn't mean you won't have a friend that doesn't. When moving to New York I had so many people say, "oh I have a friend you must meet when you're there." I urge you to take these mate dates, because they will suggest cool places for you to check out, along with introducing you to other new friends! My best friend now in newyork is a precious "friend date", we both moved to NYC the same month and hit it off!
Other ways to meet new people is through work, say yes to those afternwork drinks, those meaningless plans. Make more of an effort to create those friendships in the work place. You never know what could come of them. You are amazing, I'm sure they will see that, just try not to put pressure on yourself and let your awesomeness shine through.
Tinder, lets me honest, if you're moving to a city on your own, is there any better way to make some new friends? Dating is fun, if you let it be. Don't get me wrong ladies. Don't let your vounrability of moving to a new place let you be taken advantage of, because it does happen! Keep it in a public place! But from my own experience dating in a new city is great. My English accent helped me a lot in America, so use your advantages people! It's what makes you great! Also, having someone who has lived here longer than you show you the ropes is a great way to see different parts of the city.
There are so many ways to meet new people, through apps, meet ups you just have to make an effort and get out there!!
Untill next time xox
